Basma Hajir - Former Co-Chair 19/20

Basma is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge. Her research interests include peace education, education for peace-building, reconciliation, and conflict transformation. Prior to her PhD, Basma completed an MPhil in Education, Globalisation and International Development at Cambridge. She collaborated with the Lebanese Ministry of Education and focused on exploring the quality of education delivered to Syrian students in public schools in Lebanon. Basma has a wide experience working in different educational settings. She held a teaching position at the University of Aleppo, Syria and worked as an Emergency Education Response Support Officer there. She also worked as a Learning Material Developer, producing vocational courses for HCT (Higher Colleges of Technology) across the United Arab Emirates.
